Everything has to start somewhere. When we started GameHub, we began with a BETA selection of 20 games. Each and every one had a reason for being there: the majority were requested by the parents we met on our many fact-finding road-trips around the country. There were games that parents were worried about and wanted an explanation of what the content was. There were games that parents had heard stories and rumours about and wondered if they were true, or just playground gossip. And there were many games that parents were contemplating purchasing but they felt they needed more information to make an informed choice. A few titles, such as Gone Home and Small Fish, were added because The Boss felt they were a good representation of a lesser known genre – Small Fish is a sound-toy for Under Fives, and Gone Home is an award-winning adventure story about LGBQT teen issues.
We thought we’d take a trip down memory lane and return to some of our very first entries. We will revisit many of these games in the future to do a more in-depth blog post because there is so much more to say, but for now, let’s just cast our eyes back over the games that got us started:
