New Entries: Assassins Creed Unity

The final game for the month of October is Assassins Creed Unity. Our guest poster loved playing this game, and after a run of family-friendly titles, it was time for something a bit more grown-up and challenging to round us off.  Assassins Creed is a major video-game franchise, with a large number of games. This one had a fairly chequered launch, with bugs a plenty, to the point where we were considering advising parents to hold off on purchasing it for your children – there is nothing worse than the disappointment and heart-ache of a gift that turns out to be broken. Thankfully, the developers worked to address some of the more serious glitches and Wes seemed to really enjoy completing the game for GameHub. Glad to end on a high!

As always, reports  on GameHub HQ relay only the content of the game, rather than our personal opinions. We do consumer reports, not personal reviews. So, if you want to know the dirty details of the assassination trade before you decide if the game is suitable for your children, click the icon below to access Wes’ final official GameHub HQ report for October:

New Entries: Skylanders Trap Team

Skylanders Trap Team is what is known as a toys-to-life game, where the player has plastic figurines which they can use to interact with the events on the screen. The sheer number of figurines and all the different things they do can make this genre an extremely hard nut to crack for frazzled parents – especially if you are getting the “hard sell” from your dear son or daughter. Luckily, help is at hand.

Our guest contributor for the month of October is Wesley Copeland, professional video-game journalist and Dad of two – check out our interview here. Wes is an expert in the toys-to-life category, and he’s written us a GameHub report for Skylanders Trap Team to help you figure out your Lob-Star from your Krypt Kong. New Entries: Botanicula

Czech development studio Amanita Design are renowned for their charming “point and click” adventure games. Working a bit like an interactive story book, the player clicks (or taps) on items on the screen to solve simple puzzles and is rewarded with entertaining animations and sounds. This kind of game is ideal for young players to share with an older family member together. Our game for this week is Botanicula, one of Amanita’s most famous creations, but rest assured, this will likely not be the sole Amanita Design game on GameHub for very long! An entry for the studio’s other flagship title, Machinarium, is planned for late 2015/early 2016, so watch this space!
